Scheduling a batch of publishing jobs
If multiple jobs must be started at the same time, place them in a batch for execution instead. The jobs will run sequentially rather than attempting to run simultaneously.
You schedule a batch of publishing jobs by building a list of the publishing jobs that you want to run and then configuring the entire batch to run at a specified schedule.
Note Scheduling multiple individual publishing jobs to run at the same time on the same Enterprise Server computer will result in only one job being run. The other jobs scheduled at the same time will fail without errors. The reason for this is that only one instance of the publishing process may be active at any time.
To schedule a batch of publishing jobs:
- In Enterprise Server Configurator, in the BC Meridian group, click JOBS. The Publish Jobs page appears and lists the existing publishing jobs.
- Select the jobs that you want to schedule as a batch and then in the toolbar, click the Batch Schedule. The BATCH JOB SCHEDULE dialog box appears and lists the other batches that have been scheduled.
- Click New. The first publishing job is added to the batch.
- Click New again until all of the publishing jobs that you want are included in the batch. The next available publishing job is added to the batch.
- Click the Remove icon to remove the publishing jobs that you do not want to include in the batch. The publishing job is removed from the batch.
- When you are finished editing the batch list, click OK. The SCHEDULE dialog box appears. This dialog box requires the same input as the Windows Task Scheduler.
- Configure the scheduled task to run when you require and then click SCHEDULE. A single task is created in Windows Task Scheduler and it will run on the configured schedule.
